There are multiple talents that require a change to your rotation in order to use them optimally. You can find more information on how your rotation will look after selecting your talents on our rotation page below. Earthen Rage is okay in every situation. Echo of the Elements is the best single-target talent if you also use Master of the Elements. Static Discharge is currently too weak to consider.
Aftershock is a very unreliable talent, but with the potential of significant damage if you are lucky with its procs. Echoing Shock is strong for burst damage, but loses out to its neighbours in longer fights. Elemental Blast is very good in single-target and surprisingly useful in AoE. Spirit Wolf is mediocre, the gain starting only after 1 second spent in Ghost Wolf form. It should still be the default talent for raiding if you do not need to use Static Charge.
Earth Shield is a niche talent that is mostly useful for solo play or on encounters where you will never use Ghost Wolf. Static Charge is useful if you need to stun adds more often than once per minute. Master of the Elements combined with Echo of the Elements and Icefury is the best single-target talent. Storm Elemental benefits from the AoE uncapping to an extent comparable with Primal Elementalist and, if you know what you are doing, is definitely a strong pick for specific content.
For new content or if you are unsure about what you are doing, it is probably not your best option. Good if you can have it for every AoE pull. Nature's Guardian should be the default pick, as it nearly always gives you value and you do not need to do anything.
Ancestral Guidance can be useful to survive a particularly hard-hitting phase or if you are confident you will not need Nature's Guardian. Wind Rush Totem can have some use in organized fights where you place it at a prearranged location to help your raid move somewhere fast. If you do not specifically require it, it is not very good. Surge of Power does a bit of everything, but not very well. It can occasionally be used by advanced players for specific situations and has some synergy with Primordial Wave and Skybreaker's Fiery Demise.
Primal Elementalist is an excellent all-around option on this tier, fairly easy to use and giving you a bit of everything. Recommended for beginners and non-raid content. Icefury takes some time to learn but it is very powerful for single-target situations, especially when you have to move a lot. This is the default choice for single-target encounters assuming you can play around it correctly, and also use Master of the Elements and Echo of the Elements.
Unlimited Power has significant scaling, which means it gains significant value the more mastery you have. Unfortunately, it is currently much too weak to use. Stormkeeper is very strong and versatile. It should be used in every situation. Ascendance is now too weak to be considered unless you specifically need it to help beat a short DPS check. With the benefits of enabling War Mode for leveling and PvE content, it is recommended to enable the feature to maximize your leveling and rewards at maximum level.
However, you will make yourself available for open world PvP, and the possibility to be "ganked" while leveling or doing World Quests exists. If you need advice on how to fight against other players, visit the link below. In this section we will rank the PvP talents best for leveling and doing solo or small-group PvE content.
We recommend picking 3 of the above talents, depending on what you value most. Traveling Storms has niche uses, but is simply not very useful compared to the other talents. Do not dismiss it entirely, but for the most part you can safely ignore it. Sign In Remember me Not recommended on shared computers. Sign in anonymously. Sign in with Facebook. Diablo III. Diablo II.

Marginally useful, mainly a PvP talent. A talent mainly used by enhancement shamans as an elemental shaman would not be gaining significant DPS through melee attacks. Seen mainly in PvP builds, though isn't uncommon as a talent for lack of anything better. After landing a non-periodic critical strike with a Fire , Frost , or Nature damage spell , you enter a Clearcasting state.
