This instruction is targeted toward people who are working in industries that are more prone to hydrogen sulfide gas or sour gas hazards. H2S Alive is primarily administered in the U. H2S is also known as sour gas. One of the leading causes of death in the petroleum industry is H2S or hydrogen sulphide gas.

It is important and most often mandatory for workers with the potential to come in contact with this gas to be trained on safe practices. This includes how to properly use respirator protective equipment.

The primary focus of H2S Alive is to help workers form safe working practices in and around H2S environments. The course covers the physical properties and health hazards of H2S, how to properly protect yourself, and some basic rescue techniques.

Each student is required to operate a self-contained breathing apparatus and rescue life and drag exercises. There will be knowledge testing throughout including a written exam at the end. Participants will also have to complete a practical test where they must don a SCBA and demonstrate rescue techniques. You will receive training in gas detection, which will require you to operate a manual gas detector and also gain an understanding of how electronic detectors work.

Safety training with gas detection is very important for oilfield operations. There will be an opportunity to learn various techniques on how best to lift, drag, or carry a casualty to a safe area.

This is a fun interactive training to use rescue techniques for your certification. The last part of your certification will involve a 35 question quiz of which most are multiple choice.
